OL Reign x san diego wave fc

The OL Reign got out to a flying start, scoring the game's first goal barely two minutes into the game. Taking advantage of a sloppy 18-yard box, the OL Reign worked together to guarantee the ball made it into the goal. Nikki Stanton of the OL Reign was on the receiving end of the ball. The Reign's first goal came early in the game when the hometown player steered the ball on target. The Reign didn't stop there, scoring twice in less than ten minutes. Bethany Balcer, the OL Reign's leading goal scorer in 2021, was the victim this time. Balcer took advantage of the space she was given and scored a goal, doubling OL Reign's lead.

The tide was turning in the Reign's favor. The team kept pressing forward, scoring the third goal in the 11th minute. OL Reign defender Sam Hiatt scored this goal. Hiatt was in the box after a corner kick and struck a wonderful ball that landed exactly in the back of the net. The visitors equalized in the 24th minute, approximately halfway through the first half. Alex Morgan got on the end of a ball and expertly controlled it before shooting it into the net. Both teams had chances on goal starting in the 27th minute and continuing throughout the first half, but neither was able to convert.

San Diego came out stronger in the second half. OL Reign seized control of the game as the half progressed, achieving their stride around the 70th minute. Phallon Tullis-Joyce of the OL Reign made another outstanding save to keep San Diego to one goal. Despite this, the goal scoring was limited to the first 25 minutes of the game, and OL Reign won the game 3-1.
