seattle sounders x pumas

In a sell-out crowd of 70,000 fans that saw just the fifth-ever MLS team make it to the final in the Concacaf Champions League, the Seattle Sounders can now call themselves the Concacaf champions. They now hold the record of being the first MLS team to achieve such a feat. Pumas would attempt to get on the scoresheet first in the 42nd minute but goalkeeper Stefan Frei reacted fast and made an amazing leap to block the shot. Just before the half, the tie was broken as forward Raul Ruidiaz of the Sounders scored in the 45th minute.

Stefan Frei would once again come up huge as he was hit with a rocket of a ball in the 65th minute. The 80th minute saw Raul score his second goal of the match. Seattle's own Jordan Morris almost joined on the scoresheet in the 88th minute but his ball hit the post but the reaction of Nicolás Lodeiro redirecting that ball into the net did not fail as he scored to make the game 3-0. This proves to be the end as the Sounder won the game and won 5-2 on aggregate. They now take on something no MLS club has, the FIFA Club World Cup.
