Sporting Kansas City was defeated 1-0 by Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday night at BC Place, giving them their first win of the 2022 season. After a scoreless first half, Ryan Raposo broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute with a right-footed strike that slipped past SKC goalkeeper Tim Melia. Sporting KC had chances to tie the game in the last minutes, but luck was not on their side as the Midwestern side lacked quality in the attacking third tonight.

Vancouver got their first win of the season and kept their home record intact. Brian White and Ryan Gauld were also reintroduced to the starting lineup. The attacking combo showed great hints in build-up play and will likely be a key component of the Whitecaps' upcoming matches as their chemistry improves. Sporting Kansas City, on the other hand, may have reason to be concerned, since Peter Vermes and his teammates have only six points from six games.
