PHILADELPHIA UNION X NYCFC

In a game that saw a first of a kind. A red card was shown to an athletic trainer, specifically, the Philadelphia Union's athletic trainer. The game started off with Mikkel Uhre scoring in the 9th minute to put Philadelphia up 1-0. That was the only goal in the first half. Things got heated later on in the second half. In the 79th minute, a Union player was getting checked out by head athletic trainer Paul Rushing when some New York players were in disagreement with the injury, and things got heated, prompting Paul to shove a New York player, resulting in a red card being issued. After a handball was called on Kai Wagner, a PK was awarded to New York. Valentín Castellanos scored the PK for New York tying the game 1-1. Cory Burke ended the game with a goal in the final minute of stoppage time. That goal was initially confirmed via VAR.
