OL Reign wasted no time in taking the lead. It only took them until the 2nd minute when Megan Rapinoe, who came back from a red card suspension, took the corner kick. Megan had a perfect look and placed the ball perfectly in the middle of the box for Jessica Fishlock to kick it in for a goal to give OL Reign the lead. The corner kick was a result of offensive pressure put forth by OL Reign. Megan Rapinoe had the ball and she crossed the ball to Rose Lavelle for a shot, but Katie Lund made a spectacular save. A follow-up shot from Jordyn Huitema was initially blocked by a defender, which caused the ball to sail out of bounds for a corner. Sofia Huerta had an opportunity in the 13th minute when she kicked the ball upward, hoping to get in just under the top crossbar, but Katie made a leaping save to have the score remain 1-0. Still applying pressure, OL Reign, off of a corner from Megan Rapinoe, had the ball nearly in the net to extend their lead in the 23rd minute. Instead, the ball hit the crossbar, bounced on the goal line, and then out. Alana Cook was the one who initiated the shot. In extra time, Louisville evened things up when Kirstin Davis scored the equalizer off her left foot just outside the penalty box to make it 1-1. 

Still putting the pressure on, OL Reign started the second half by making shots, hoping they would go in, but Katie Lund was keeping Louisville in the game with her spectacular saves. In the 48th minute, Megan Rapinoe, off of a free kick, made a cross but was initially defended well, but Sofia Huerta got the rebound and kicked it from the middle of the penalty box, but Katie saved it. Katie didn't have control of the ball and Fishlock looked to take advantage and kicked it in again, but her quick reaction from Katie saved a goal. Katie Lund made one final big save in the 77th minute when Jessica Fishlock had a perfect pathway for the goal, but Lund just got enough to block the shot.
