Seattle sounders x real salt lake

Despite having possession of the ball for more than half of the game, Real Salt Lake beat the Seattle Sounders.

We observed what we believed was the opening goal of the game in favor of Seattle in the 12th minute of play, but it was reversed owing to VAR’s input. In the 32nd minute, Sergio Córdova scored Real Salt Lake's opening goal. Sergio got the ball in midfield and was surrounded by two defenders, but he dribbled by them and raced toward the goal line. He outran the defenders and attempted a shot, but Stefan Frei stopped it. Stefan was out of position, therefore two defenders had to guard the net. Despite their best efforts, he would score on his attempted shot to put RSL up 1-0.

The Sounders came out of the locker room ready to attack. In the 62nd minute, the Sounders' Albert Rusnák scored on a low effort from the outside of the box. Unfortunately, only two minutes later, Real Salt Lake scored again on an Andrew Brody goal. The assist for Andrew's goal went to Jefferson Savarino, whose cross Andrew dove for. Seattle made a few last-ditch efforts to appease its supporters. In the 87th minute, Fredy Montero received a cross from Nicolás Lodeiro, but his header went high and wide of the goal. Minutes before the end of regulation, they made a desperate last-ditch effort, coming within a few feet of scoring. Fredy Montero was open for a close-range attempt on a pass from Jimmy Medranda, but Fredy did not slide far enough to get to the ball and hence missed it.
