Austin FC x San Jose Earthquakes

On Saturday night, in front of a sold-out crowd at Q2 Stadium, Austin FC and the San Jose Earthquakes battled to a 2-2 stalemate. Emiliano Rigoni and Sebastián Driussi, both from Argentina, scored for Austin FC.

At the 21-minute mark, the Earthquakes had gotten the upper hand. Jackson Yueill took a pass from Carlos Akapo inside the penalty area and blasted a left-footed shot beyond the far post to make it 0-1 to the visitors. However, before halftime, Rigoni would score his first goal for Austin FC to bring them even. From the middle of the field, Dani Pereira passed the ball to Rodney Redes, who won the ball in the air and nodded it to Rigoni, who completed the finish for the goal expertly.

In the second half, Austin made a concerted effort to score the game-winning goal. After 60 minutes, Nick Lima nearly scored, but San Jose goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski made a diving save on a volley he hit from the edge of the box.

The home team had several excellent offensive chances, but San Jose's Jeremy Ebobisse scored with 15 minutes remaining to play to regain the lead. But Austin wasn't going to let that happen, and in the 78th minute, they evened things up. When Marcinkowski blocked Leo Väisänen's powerful header, Driussi was there to tap in the loose ball to break the lead, making it 2-2, which was where things would stand after the full 90 came to pass.
