Real Salt Lake x San Jose Earthquakes

All three goals scored by Real Salt Lake's Jasper Löffelsend, Jefferson Savarino, and Andres Gomez were spectacular, and they were enough to earn a 3-1 win against the San Jose Earthquakes. Real Salt Lake’s Musovski had an immediate impact, helping RSL take the lead as he assisted Jasper Löffelsend's goal in the 39th minute.

After the start of the second half, the Earthquakes soon tied the game when Cristian Espinoza's curling free kick bounced off an RSL defender and into the near post in the 49th minute. RSL regained the lead five minutes later when the Colombian speedster Gómez made a nifty run through the center of the field and set up Savarino on the left side of the goal. Savarino dribbled into the box before unleashing a right-footed rocket that curled inside the post.

Gomez responded with his own goal in the 80th minute, hammering in a beautiful pass from Oviedo from beyond the 18 for his first career goal. The match ended 3-1 for Real Salt Lake, who would withstand late San Jose pressure to win their second straight encounter at American First Field.
