Philadelphia Union x Chicago Fire

Philadelphia Union turned Subaru Park into a fortress once again, hammering Chicago Fire 4–0 in a one-sided showdown that left no doubt about who the better team was. From the opening whistle, the Union dictated the tempo, moving the ball crisply and pinning Chicago deep, and once they found their rhythm in front of goal there was no stopping them.

The breakthrough came just past the half-hour mark when Tai Baribo struck for his 16th of the season. The Israeli forward showed his striker’s instinct, pouncing inside the box and tucking the ball away to ignite the crowd. That early strike set the tone, and Philadelphia only grew stronger as the game went on.

After the break, Kai Wagner doubled the advantage with a moment of brilliance. Standing over a free kick in the 64th minute, the left back drilled a low rocket under the wall and into the corner, sending the fans into raptures and deflating any hope Chicago had of a comeback.

The Union smelled blood and didn’t let up. Danley Jean Jacques got in on the act in the 71st minute, finishing calmly after finding space inside the area, his first goal in MLS capping off another wave of pressure. The floodgates were open, and just nine minutes later new arrival Milan Iloski joined the party, bagging his first goal for the club with a confident strike that sealed the rout at 4–0.

While the attack grabbed the headlines, credit also belongs to young keeper Andrew Rick, who stood tall and collected his fifth clean sheet of the season. Chicago rarely threatened, and every time they tried to break through, Rick and his back line slammed the door shut.

By the final whistle, Philadelphia had put on one of their most complete performances of the season, climbing back to the top of the Eastern Conference and reaffirming Subaru Park as one of the toughest places to play in MLS. For the Union, it wasn’t just three points, it was a statement of intent.
