Philadelphia Union x Orlando City SC
Defense Reigns as Union and Orlando City Grind to a Gritty 0-0 Draw at Subaru Park
On April 5th, in front of a packed Subaru Park, it was a night of missed chances, flying tackles, and brick-wall defending as the Philadelphia Union and Orlando City SC battled to a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
The Union came out swinging, peppering Orlando’s goal with 20 shots and pushing hard with eight corners, but they just couldn’t find a way past the man of the match, Pedro Gallese. Orlando’s star goalkeeper stood on his head, making four clutch saves, including a stunning double stop in the first half that kept Philly fans on edge.
Philadelphia threw everything forward, but every attempt met a purple wall. Orlando’s backline blocked eight shots, scrambled in the box, and walked off the pitch with a clean sheet they earned the hard way.
For Orlando, the result extended their unbeaten streak to four games—and three of those have come on the road. Not only that, but this was their first regular-season road shutout since last summer, a huge morale booster for a team quietly gaining momentum.
The Union, meanwhile, will feel like they left points on the table. They controlled the tempo and created the better chances, but the finishing touch just wasn’t there.
Both teams walk away with a point—but if you love tight, high-stakes soccer with goalkeeping heroics and last-ditch defending, this one was a low-scoring thriller.
