Toronto FC and Atlanta United played out a dramatic 1-1 draw at BMO Field on July 12, 2025, in a match that ended in heartbreak for the home side and relief for the visitors. Sean Johnson guessed right and got a hand to it, but the ball squirmed over the line, silencing the crowd and rescuing a point for Atlanta.
For Toronto, the draw felt like a loss. They had done enough to win but once again failed to close out the game. For Atlanta, it was a much-needed boost after a rough run of form, and they’ll take encouragement from the resilience they showed. With both teams languishing near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, the result doesn’t do much to change the standings, but it may shift momentum as the season grinds on.
