MLS All Stars x Arsenal - 2023

Amazing goals from Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard in the first half propelled Premier League club Arsenal to a 5-0 win against the MLS All-Stars in the 2023 MLS All-Star Game in Washington, D.C.

After a bright start from the MLS All-Stars, Arsenal took the lead on their first offensive sequence.

Jesus got his hands on it and smashed a first-time chip with his right foot that flew past St. Louis City FC goalie Roman Burki and bounced in off the left post for a goal in the fifth minute to make it 1-0.

Trossard added to the advantage 18 minutes later with a goal that was almost as spectacular. After driving down the right side, Saka squared the ball to Trossard in the penalty area, where he was again involved in blasting a shot into the upper right corner to make it 2-0 for Arsenal.

Soon after the start of the second half, Jorginho scored a penalty kick for the Gunners to make it 3-0.

Arsenal would go on to score more and increase the current 3-0 scoreline, ultimately giving them their worst loss in this version of the annual event, with two late goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz to make it 5-0 for the final score.

After competing in 2021 and 2022 against a squad of all-stars from Mexico's Liga MX, this was the first time MLS players have faced a European club team in the game since 2019. Time will tell whether next year in Columbus the MLS All-Stars will return against their next European foe or whether it will be in a new and updated format.
