Philadelphia Union x Inter Miami CF

Philadelphia Union beat Inter Miami CF 4-1 at Subaru Park on Saturday.

The Union's first set piece occurred after Franco Negri's failed Miami quick break resulted in a corner kick for the opponents. Kai Wagner's precise volley was headed in by Jakob Glesnes in the 14th minute to take an early 1-0 lead.

The Union tried to score again after making several key defensive saves. Uhre nutmegged his opponent in the 28th minute, but his shot was stopped. After a lengthy delay due to an injury to the visiting team's player, the Union expanded their advantage when Uhre reversed sides and set up Julian Carranza for his first goal against his former club making it 2-0 after his blast strengthened the lead.

In the first half, Philadelphia continued to dominate possession and score goals from unlikely midfielders. Olivier Mbaizo raced to the corner flag after a long diagonal ball from Jose Martinez. The Cameroonian studied the situation and passed firmly to Daniel Gazdag, who slipped the ball into the penalty box for team captain Alejandro Bedoya. Before halftime, Bedoya placed a ball to the edge of the box, where Leon Flach ripped it low into the net to make it 3-0.

Inter Miami scored a 50th-minute goal after halftime. David Ruiz found a left-side break and passed to Pizarro, who faked a pass to Robert Taylor for a one-on-one with the goalie. Glesnes attempted to block the striker's shot, but it resulted in a 3-1 scoreline.

After three minutes, the Union scored again with a defensive attack. Uhre received a pass from Carranza to the left of the 18-yard box. He would slot the ball back into the box where it took an unfortunate deflection spinning back into Miami’s net for an own goal, making it 4-1.

The Union defense was repeatedly tested by Miami's unrelenting search of an attempt to get back into the game. But that chance never came as the match finished 4-1.
