The Philadelphia Union ended a three-match losing run emphatically Wednesday night, cruising past Toronto FC 3-0 at Subaru Park after racing out to a three-goal lead inside the first 36 minutes. The Union were on the attack from the start and should have scored more goals if Alex Bono hadn't made crucial saves to deny Kacper Przybylko and Daniel Gazdag inside the first 23 minutes.

In the 12th minute, Jakob Glesnes scored the game's first goal, whirling in the area after latching onto a Gazdag corner kick and hitting past Bono with his back to goal. After Bono brought down Sergio Santos in the area, Gazdag scored his first MLS goal from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute.

Santos scored his sixth goal in five games against Toronto FC three minutes later. After receiving a ball from Jose Martinez, the Brazilian burst into space with a smart first touch and then into the box with his second before finishing clinically inside the far post.

When Yeferson Soteldo went to the penalty spot after referee Ted Unkel determined Jack Elliott had taken down Richie Laryea in the area, Toronto had an opportunity to climb back into the game. Andre Blake, on the other hand, dived to his right to intercept Soteldo's low effort.

It's not like the Union were in crisis mode following three games without a win, including two 1-1 ties in a row. But Philadelphia took care of business right away, scoring three goals in the first 36 minutes as they prepare for a huge matchup against the Revs on Sunday. If Toronto were to finish above the playoff line in the second half of the season, they can't afford many more of these results.
