LA galaxy x lafc

Both El Trafico rivals missed chances to inflict more damage on the other's postseason hopes during a 1-1 draw Sunday at Dignity Health Sports Park. Mamadou Fall gave LAFC an early lead, Samuel Grandsir equalized for the LA Galaxy not long after, and both El Trafico rivals missed chances to inflict more damage on the other's postseason hopes during a 1-1 draw Sunday at Dignity Health Sports Park. While both clubs came in with three consecutive losses, the Galaxy may be happier with their performance on Sunday, if only because they started the night in sixth place in the Western Conference for the MLS Cup Playoffs.

For the time being, they'll remain in sixth place, tied on points with Real Salt Lake but trailing on the second tiebreaker of goal differential. LAFC is now only four points behind Minnesota United FC — and five behind the Galaxy – in the race for the seventh and final place. Within seconds of one other, both sides had perhaps their greatest opportunity for all three points. In the 61st minute, Galaxy defender Nick DePuy's header hit the crossbar, and in the 62nd minute, Galaxy goalkeeper Jonathan Bond pushed LAFC midfielder Francisco Ginella's attempt against the other crossbar.
