USMNT x canada

In the second match of the Octagonal stage of Concacaf Men's World Cup Qualifying on Sunday night at Nissan Stadium, the United States and Canada traded goals during a seven-minute stretch early in the second half, drawing 1-1. Brendan Aaronson broke the scoreless tie in the 55th minute, but Cyle Larin equalized in the 62nd minute as both sides split the points for the second consecutive qualifying match, putting Les Rouges ahead of the US in third place after the first two rounds.

Aaronson began the sequence by recovering a ball from a Canada throw-in and finished it with a sliding finish on a well-put cross by left-back Antonee Robinson, who was set up by Colorado Rapids midfielder Kellyn Acosta. Six minutes later, Alphonso Davies beat DeAndre Yedlin to a Sam Adekugbe cross down the wing and delivered the equalizer to an open Larin in front of goal. Three minutes later, John Herdman made two aggressive replacements, bringing in Jonathan David and Tajon Buchanan of the New England Revolution. Davies, who won an offensive throw-in at the corner flag, exited the game in the 76th minute with an apparent injury.

Brooks sliced a ball to a cutting Sebastian Lletget, who turned on a double team and slid a pass to Aaronson in the 40th minute, almost giving the USMNT the lead. Christian Pulisic chipped his effort off the post after the former Philadelphia Union native sent a pass to the outside of the six-yard box.

Five minutes before full time, Pulisic had another chance, but his curling free-kick from 30 yards above Canada's wall again went over the crossbar. He next delivered a dangerous corner ball in front of the goal, but Atlanta United center back Miles Robinson's diving header went off target.
