OL Reign x Washington Spirit

On Sunday, the OL Reign welcomed the Washington Spirit to their stadium. The visitors had played in the previous week, defeating Houston Dash 2-1.

US all star, Rose Lavelle, made her OL Reign debut on Sunday, starting for Farid Benstit's side. Unfortunately, the hype surrounding the game did not translate into a win for the OL Reign, as they fell to Spirit, 0-1 on a Megan Rapinoe own goal.

Many fans still may believe it is a dream, but Rose Lavelle is an OL Reign player who started and played 64 minutes in her debut. Lavelle came out determined to make an impression in her first match, and she was the orchestrator of their attack at times during the first half. In the 17th minute, Lavelle dribbled nearly 50 yards down the field, passing to forward Tziarra King, and the ball found the back of the net; however, King was ruled offside. Megan Rapinoe, captain Lauren Barnes, and head coach Farid Benstiti all praised Lavelle's debut in their respective post-game press conferences. Time will tell what the returning star will do for the Reign side in the future!
