Angel City FC x OL Reign

Talk about a welcome back for Tobin Heath. Two of the largest NWSL powerhouses faced off with the Reign searching for their first away win against the new LA side. The night would also feature some huge stars matching up head to head. The action would kick off only minutes in when Angel City flew off the break and overwhelmed a retreating OL Reign defense who were ultimately unable to stop the break and conceded a saved shot for Roccaro to tap in. This wouldn’t be it for Angel City though, in the 26th minute Leroux would be taken down in the box. McCaskill would calmly step up and put it away. Then to put the icing on the cake, Didi Haračić, who was playing the game of her life, would go on to save a Reign pk to end the half.

However, the second half would be all in the Reign’s favor. In the 53rd minute, Jess Fishlock would provide the spark the Reign needed by bagging a beautiful curling ball to the far post after a lengthy possession. The Reign would tie the match in the 64th minute when a cleared corner fell to the feet of Sofia Huerta who rocketed a long-range golazo to the upper left corner leaving Haračić no chance at all to save it. The Reign weren’t done yet though. In the 85th minute Sofia Huerta would make a run down to the LA endline before crossing the ball to a wide-open Tobin Heath, she instantly broke the hearts of thousands in the Banc of California Stadium volleying the ball home between Didi’s legs to win the game for the Reign.
