atlanta united x austin fc

Austin FC traveled to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to hopefully pick up some more points to inch closer to the top spot in the Western Conference Semifinals. They would also waste very little time getting on the scoreboard. Within the first ten minutes, they were up 1-0 with a goal by Felipe. It started when Atlanta couldn't get control of the ball and Austin picked up the loose possession, and then it was a race down the field. Felipe passed it to Ethan Finlay, who was on the sideline and racing towards goal, who then crossed the ball back across the net to Felipe again for a clinical header that hit the back of the net. Ethan Finlay then got a goal of his own in the 17th minute. Jon Gallagher, who assisted in that goal, had the ball on the outside, and when he found an opening, he crossed the ball to the center of the goal for Hoesen to dummy it and allow Ethan Finlay to be the one to power it in. Atlanta made one last effort before the half to cut down the Austin FC lead, but when Josef Martinez took the shot, it was right towards the keeper for an easy save.

Austin FC made a couple of changes in the second half by putting in Maximiliano Urruti and Sebastián Driussi. These changes would pay off in a huge way as Driussi scored his 11th goal in the 57th minute. Urruit almost had the goal originally, but his shot went off the post to a lucky Sabastian who was there for the rebound to tap it in. Stuver made a massive save in the 60th minute to keep his clean sheet going. He just barely got a fingertip on the ball when George Campbell's header came for the center of the box. The rest of the game saw multiple shots on goal from both teams but fell short of another goal each time.
