Rose Lavelle was the main factor in this game as the Reign fought off the San Diego star power and outlasted them to win 1-0. Rose was pressuring San Diago into going on defense for much of the game. She would continue repeatedly firing shots away but was unable to find the back of the net in the first half. The second half finally would play out much differently as Lavelle finally got a goal in the 75th minute during a set-piece which was assisted by Sofia Huerta. That goal alone was the deciding factor of the game as OL Reign defeated San Diego 1-0 at home and left the pitch that day with all three points.
