Austin FC x Real Salt Lake

Austin FC supporters will long remember their first playoff appearance. What a night for the Verde it was.  After RSL's Sergio Córdova scored twice in short succession early on in the first half, Salt Lake was off to the races, Diego Fagundez's exquisite cross was met by Sebastián Driussi's head to cut the lead in half before halftime, giving a slight boost of confidence for Austin going into the locker room.

As time ticked down, the Verde & Black became more eager for an equalizer. The players and the crowd's unshakable faith were rewarded with a penalty kick in stoppage time that Emiliano Rigoni won. Driussi was the most composed person at Q2 Stadium as the fate of the club's season hung in the balance. The MLS MVP candidate calmly converted the penalty in the 94th minute, forcing overtime.

Despite struggling to break past a crowded RSL defensive third, the Verde & Black showed poise and confidence in the shootout. Shots on goal were scored by Driussi, Fagundez, and Rigoni. Austin advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals thanks to a great stop from Brad Stuver and a failed penalty kick by RSL's Tate Schmitt.
