la galaxy x new England revolution

On Sunday night, the LA Galaxy beat the New England Revolution 2-1 at Gillette Stadium. In the opening 15 minutes, the Galaxy jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Revolution battled back with a goal from midfielder Carles Gil, assisted by Tommy McNamara, but ultimately fell short.

In the fourth minute, Daniel Aguirre scored for the visitors after receiving a pass from Chicharito and finishing past Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovi. Afterward, in the 15th minute, Chicharito scored the second goal after receiving a pass from Galaxy midfielder Riqui Puig. The Revolution had many good opportunities to score before halftime, including attempts on goal by Tommy McNamara and Emmanuel Boateng, but they trailed the Galaxy by two goals at the break. Carles Gil's left-footed curler in the 82nd minute was a Goal of the Week candidate, as it looped over LA goalkeeper Jonathan Bond and settled into the top corner to bring New England within two goals of the Galaxy. In the second half, the Revolution had five shots on goal, but they were unable to get the equalizer.

At halftime, Gustavo Bou joined the game for the first time since July 16 and promptly registered two shots, one of which was on target. Tonight's encounter featured three Revolution Homegrown Players, as attacker Justin Rennicks started for the sixth consecutive game, matching his career best, while midfielders Esmir Bajraktarevic and Noel Buck all made appearances off the bench.
