New England Revolution x HOUSTON Dynamo fc

The New England Revolution started their 2023 season at Gillette Stadium with a 3-0 win over the Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday night. In their first Major League Soccer game of the 2023 season, midfielder Dylan Borrero, forward Bobby Wood, and defense Brandon Bye all scored and assisted on goals.

With the night’s victory, New England becomes the first team in franchise history to win its first two games of the season and the first team in the league to start a season with straight shutouts since 2006. Bruce Arena, the Patriots' sporting director and head coach, won his 50th Major League Soccer regular-season game with New England.

New England took a one-goal advantage into halftime thanks to a goal scored by Borrero with his right foot in the 42nd minute off a nice assist from Wood. In the 53rd minute, Wood added to the score by netting his own first goal for the Revolution with a left-footed strike assisted by Gil. In the 65th minute, Bye finished off the day’s goal scoring on a redirected right-footed effort from Blessing and Borrero's crosses that he would tap in to make it 3-0.
