Philadelphia Union x DC United
The Philadelphia Union put on a show at Subaru Park this past Saturday, cruising to a dominant 3-0 win over longtime rivals D.C. United in front of a roaring home crowd. The Union extended their unbeaten home streak against D.C. to a staggering 14 matched, and this one was never really in doubt.
Jakob Glesnes opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a thundering volley off a pinpoint cross from Frankie Westfield, setting the tone for the night. The Union kept pressing, and just after halftime, Danley Jean Jacques doubled the lead with a perfectly placed low shot that snuck in off the post.
Substitute Bruno Damiani put the icing on the cake in the 77th minute, calmly finishing a slick team move to make it 3-0 and send the crowd into celebration mode.
D.C. United were without their offensive talismans Christian Benteke and João Peglow, and it showed. Despite a few flashes, they never found their rhythm. Philadelphia keeper Andre Blake was rock solid, making five saves to lock down the clean sheet.
