Toronto FC and Minnesota United Battle to a Gritty Stalemate at BMO Field
Saturday night under the lights at BMO Field brought intensity, grit, and a whole lot of frustration—but no goals—as Toronto FC and Minnesota United played to a 0–0 draw. The result extends Toronto’s winless streak to eight games, while Minnesota keeps their unbeaten run alive at seven.
Minnesota came out looking sharp in the early going, controlling the ball and trying to dictate the tempo. But despite their possession advantage, clear chances were few and far between. Toronto’s midfield enforcer Deybi Flores was a wrecking ball, breaking up plays and frustrating the Loons at every turn.
As the match wore on, Toronto started to settle in and push back, but the finishing touch remained elusive. The biggest heart-in-mouth moment of the match came in the 59th minute when Minnesota’s Nicolás Romero unleashed a powerful shot, only to be denied by a spectacular save from Toronto’s veteran goalkeeper Sean Johnson.
Fans at BMO Field were vocal in their disappointment, especially over Toronto's ongoing lack of attacking spark. While the Reds showed resilience defensively, they just couldn’t break through a solid Minnesota backline.
For the Loons, it's another point on the road, but they'll be heading back to Saint Paul knowing they left chances on the table. Both teams walk away with a single point, and a lot to think about.
