Toronto FC x New York Red Bulls

The New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC locked horns at BMO Field in a fiery showdown that ended with both sides walking away with a hard earned 1 to 1 draw.

It was the Red Bulls who struck first as Mohammed Sofo continued his breakout season with a composed finish that put New York in front. That goal marked his fifth of the season and cemented his place as one of the league’s most exciting young players. He has now scored in three of his last five league appearances and sits second among all MLS players under 21 in goals scored.

Toronto refused to back down. Pushing forward with energy and grit they found the equalizer and turned the game into a tense midfield battle with chances flying at both ends. Both teams were desperate for three points but the final whistle came with no clear winner.

There was a milestone moment for Wiki Carmona who made his 100th appearance for the Red Bulls and his 50th MLS start. But not all the news was good for New York as star winger Lewis Morgan was forced off with an injury in the first half.

With this result the Red Bulls remain firmly in the playoff hunt while Toronto’s search for a win continues. It was a night full of effort and emotion where both sides showed heart but had to settle for a share of the points.
