LA Galaxy x houston dynamo

Fafa Picault scored an early goal for Houston Dynamo FC, but Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez equalized for the LA Galaxy in the second half, drawing the Western Conference rivals 1-1 at Dignity Sports Health Park for Central American Heritage Night this past Wednesday evening.

Picault's eighth goal of the season gave the Dynamo an early lead after 13 minutes. The Houston striker grabbed onto a through pass from Darwin Quintero and slid his shot past Galaxy goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann to give the Dynamo a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Chicharito scored the equalizer soon after the hour mark, bringing the score to 1-0. The star striker returned to his goal-scoring ways with a leaping header off a cross from Dejan Joveljic that he put precisely past the extended arms of diving Houston goalie Michael Nelson in his second game back after a lengthy layoff due to a calf injury. The game's final goal would split the points for both teams. Matias Vera had the greatest chance for Houston with a close-range effort after a corner ball slipped through to him in front of the goal, but he missed the target.

Chicharito got one more chance for LA in the 88th minute, this time off a cross from Sebastian Lletget, but it sailed wide as well, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
