Orlando pride x houston dash

The Orlando Pride drew 1-1 with the Houston Dash at Exploria Stadium Thursday afternoon thanks to a late header from Taylor Kornieck. Kornieck's goal off a corner kick equalized Houston's Rachel Daly's early goal, giving both teams a draw. From last week's 1-0 triumph over NJ/NY Gotham FC, the Pride only made one alteration to the starting eleven. Amy Turner returned to the lineup in place of Toni Pressley after missing the previous game due to injury. Erika Tymrak was kept in the lineup following a solid showing in New Jersey, which featured a fantastic long-range goal.

The Dash broke the early stalemate in the 10th minute. Ali Riley either took a heavy touch or attempted a short ball to Turner but didn't get enough on it after doing well to get in front of the defender. In any case, Daly reacted quicker than Turner, dashed in, and slotted the ball past Ashlyn Harris inside the far post for the game's first goal.

The Pride produced a number of chances in the 79th minute, one of which ended in the equalizer. It all started when Ali Krieger delivered a long ball into the box, which was met by the head of Kornieck, who came in in the second half. Campbell was able to deflect the forward's header over the crossbar despite the fact that it was on target.

On the next corner kick, Dougherty Howard found Kornieck once more. Kornieck's header was on target once more. Campbell grabbed a hold of the ball, but she tipped it against the crossbar's underside. The Dash attempted to clear the ball, but it crept across the line for the equalizer.

While three points at home would have been preferable, especially after playing two more games than numerous clubs, it's a necessary point as the Pride try to earn a postseason berth for only the second time in franchise history.
