Ol reign x orlando pride

The Orlando Pride were beaten 3-0 in a wet encounter in Tacoma on Sunday night by the second-seeded OL Reign. Eugenie Le Sommer scored a brace for the home team, and Bethany Balcer scored a goal for the visitors. The Reign got on the board early, with Sofia Huerta delivering a cross into the box that Bethany Balcer headed in for the game's first goal. In the 28th minute, Dzsenifer Marozsán intercepted a ball deep in the Orlando zone and found Eugénie Le Sommer, who scored on a one-timer that beat Ashlyn Harris off her line. After Marozsán found her on a driven pass into the six-yard box, Le Sommer made it a hat trick on the night with a goal four minutes later.

There is still a lot to play for at this stage in the season. While the OL Reign were in a good position to make the playoffs going into the day, no team in the league is guaranteed a spot. OL Reign needed to come out strong and forceful straight away, stating that this was their game and they weren't going to lose it. The tone was established right from the start, with Huerta and Balcer combining once more to score in the third minute, and Orlando had no answer. While Orlando had a bit more vigor in the second half, their first genuine attempt on target came in the 70th minute, and OL Reign goalie Sarah Bouhaddi was up to the task.
