houston dash x portland thorns

It was a beautiful Houston night when Portland came to town to take on the Dash for a Group B match up. The action would pick up with Crystal Dunn in the 26th minute as she blasted a long range shot that forced Jane Campbell into a stellar diving save. Although the Thorns would get some other shots on goal throughout the first half, the true breakthrough would come just at the end of the first 45. Just as the Thorns planned to go to into the half locked in a stalemate Veronica Latsko would break onto a ball down the left sideline and place it into the box where She Groom would power it into the upper right corner putting the Dash ahead by a goal.

The second half would kick off with the Thorns aggressively pressing to score some goals against the Dash. The more time that passed the more saves Jane Campbell was forced to make. This defense held strong until Christine Sinclair would slot a ball home for the Thorns in the 76th minute. Even as the teams came even the game still felt as though a winner would emerge with a final goal. With some good breakthroughs on both sides neither team could secure their edge though. The match would come to an end with both teams leaving a point to their name.
