sporting kc x austin fc

We have had absolute scenes in Kansas this past weekend people. What a night for the Blue Hell. In what was a highly anticipated match up Kansas would play host for the first time to newcomers Austin FC. Austin and Kansas have been riding high on a wave of good results so far this season. Both teams have now won 2 games early on in the season so far and today was the day for the SKC faithful.

The action would kick off very early as Austin would take a one goal lead early into the match. Just seven minutes in and beautiful through ball would put Jon Gallagher through for Austin. He would calmly slot it home under Pulskamp to pull Austin ahead. The match would continue on with chippy fouls here and there and chances exchanged between the two clubs. However, they would go into half with Austin holding the 0-1 lead away from home.

The second half would kick off with a similar energy. In the 67th minute the game would change though as Alexander Ring would commit a second yellow card offense and be sent off leaving Austin with 10 men to finish the match. The time would tick on as Kansas came closer and closer to finding an equalizer. Each time they would be thwarted by a save or a missed chance off net. It was only inevitable though and they would level the match in the 82nd minute as a wide open Ilie Sanchez would head home a perfectly placed corner giving life to Kansas. Hope built in the Cauldron as the pressure rose and Kansas kept crashing into the Austin back line desperately trying to hold on to at least a point on the road. Their mission was so close to being complete when in the 90 minute Gadi Kinda would head home a deflected cross to send Kansas into raptures. This was all Kansas needed as they secured all three points at home and locked them into fifth place in the western conference. A valiant effort was put on by Austin but they would end the weekend sitting in eighth place.
