Philadelphia Union x Columbus Crew

A 4-1 victory over the Columbus Crew on the opening night of the 2023 MLS season at Subaru Park went to the Philadelphia Union. The action kicked off in the 28th minute, Columbus scored when defender Jakob Glesnes scored an own goal off a low-slotted ball that Andre Blake couldn't react to in time to save.

In the 45th minute plus three seconds of the first half, Union defender Dániel Gazdag converted a penalty shot to tie the game. Union took the lead in the 52nd minute on a goal by forward Julián Carranza, which was assisted by captain Alejandro Bedoya. Dániel Gazdag scored a second goal from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute to put his team up 2-0 over the Crew. In the 80th minute, forward Julián Carranza scored his second goal of the match, with help from midfielder Joaquin Torres, to seal the victory in fantastic fashion
