Philadelphia Union x Inter Miami CF
At Subaru Park on May 24, 2025, the Philadelphia Union and Inter Miami CF put on an electrifying show that ended in a thrilling 3 to 3 draw, thanks to a late-game magic from none other than Lionel Messi.
The Union came out firing, with Quinn Sullivan opening the scoring in just the seventh minute, turning a perfectly placed corner from Kai Wagner into a goal. Before halftime, Tai Baribo doubled the lead with his twelfth goal of the season, showcasing why he is one of the league’s deadliest finishers.
Miami fought back hard in the second half. Tadeo Allende got them on the board with a towering header in the 60th minute. Baribo answered again in the 73rd minute, restoring Philadelphia’s two-goal cushion. But the drama was far from over.
In the final moments, Messi unleashed a breathtaking free kick in the 87th minute to bring Miami right back into the game. Then, deep into stoppage time, Telasco Segovia connected with Messi’s assist to complete the stunning comeback and level the score.
Despite the draw, the Union kept their spot atop the Eastern Conference and extended their unbeaten streak to nine games across all competitions. Up next, they head to BMO Field to take on Toronto FC on May 28.
