Seattle Reign x Portland Thorns
The Cascadia Rivalry lit up Lumen Field once again on April 18, 2025, as Seattle Reign FC battled their way to a thrilling 1 to 0 win over Portland Thorns FC in front of a roaring home crowd.
It didn’t take long for the fireworks to begin. Just four minutes into the match, rookie Maddie Dahlien announced herself to the league with her first professional goal. Sprinting onto a pinpoint assist from Lynn Biyendolo, Dahlien coolly slotted it home to give the Reign an early lead. With that pass, Biyendolo etched her name into history, tying the NWSL all-time assist record with her thirty-first career helper.
Portland responded with everything they had. They controlled possession and fired off thirteen shots, but Seattle’s defense stood tall. Goalkeeper Claudia Dickey turned in a standout performance, making four critical saves to preserve the clean sheet and frustrate the Thorns attack at every turn.
With the win, Seattle improved to two wins, two losses and one draw on the season while Portland dropped to one win, two losses and two draws. The all-time rivalry between these two fierce foes is now dead even at sixteen wins apiece with ten draws.
