On a charged night at Lumen Field, the Seattle Sounders delivered a gutsy 1 to 0 win over San Diego FC on May 28, 2025, in a match packed with intensity, pressure and a long-awaited breakthrough.

Jesús Ferreira stole the spotlight in the 58th minute, finally finding the back of the net in his 19th appearance for the Sounders. But if Ferreira lit the spark, Stefan Frei slammed the door shut. The veteran goalkeeper was in vintage form, racking up seven saves on the night. From denying Alex Mighten's low rocket in the 44th minute to an instinctive kick save late in the match, Frei was everywhere. His performance earned him yet another clean sheet, the 121st of his MLS career, moving him to second on the league’s all-time list.
